The Riesengrund landfill from the takeover until today

The landfill is an integral part of the HRU Erxleben and is constantly changing. It comprises three approved construction phases. The first construction phase, including the infrastructure and ancillary facilities, was put into operation on 16.05.2022. Over the next few years, there will be a continuous expansion of the deposition areas in the first construction phase. The cavity created in the open-cast mine will not remain unused either. It will be developed as a landfill as part of the reutilization process and will be available as valuable landfill space for the next generation.
